Josephine (“JO” ) Marie Sheppard (nee Wardell) (b. August 13th 1926) of Paris, at Park Lane Terrace, Paris , on Friday January 3, 2020., formerly of Listowel, ON , Niagara Falls, ON, and Owen Sound, in her 94th year.
Pre-deceased by her husband Douglas Roy (2004), and survived by her 3 children, Elaine Stirling, (Alex) of Hamilton, Geoff Sheppard of St. Catharines, and Anne Sheppard-Dzsudzsak (Paul) of Paris, ON. Loved grandmother to 10 grandchildren, Mona, Nadia, Danny, Laura, Marc, Alicia, Roy, Aaron, Margaret, Rebecca, and several great grandchildren.
Pre-deceased by sisters, Lois Meades of Owen Sound, and Phyliis Nairn of Owen Sound.
Josephine graduated as a Registered nurse in 1947 from the Greater Niagara General Hospital, where she worked as a nurse for several years, as well as Listowel, where she worked with the mentally challenged, and from 1971-1978 Jo worked at the Paris Willett Hospital where she immensely enjoyed the camaraderie of her fellow team members during that time.
After her retirement from nursing, Jo went on to do lots of volunteering, such as Lifeline, as well as volunteering at the Willett in different capacities. She was an active member of the Paris Book Club for several years, and enjoyed the many friendships that she made there.
A big Thank you to the many staff who always stopped by to give mom a hug and a kiss, and whom mom called “Pet”, at Park Lane Nursing Home . They always enjoyed mom’s continuous sense of humour.
Cremation has taken place.
