Obituary for Josephine Elliott
It is with deep sadness & heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Josephine Elliott (Josie) at St. Peter’s Residence at Chedoke on Friday December 25th at age 84.
Loving mother of George (Mari), Rita Memme (Rob) & Joe (Valerie).
Cherished Nonna of Joshua, Lucas & the late Tyler, Brandon & Shannon.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph and brothers Antonio & Vincenzo Deluca.
Survived by her brother Aldo Deluca (Isabella), sisters-in-law Ina & Teresa and many nieces & nephews.
Josie was born in Laino Borgo, Italy and immigrated to Canada with her father at the tender age of 21 back in 1957. Those who knew Josie will remember her as a kind, selfless, hard-working woman with a heart of gold. Despite becoming a widow at a relatively young age, she never remarried & always put the needs of others before her own. Family meant everything to her and nothing made her happier than cooking a big dinner for family and/or friends and spending time with her grandchildren.
Josie lived life to the fullest and was quite well known in the retail sector, having worked at Montreal Textiles as a sales clerk for over ten years and then as a cashier at Fortinos for over 20 years. In her spare time, Josie loved to keep herself active by bowling, playing bocce, dancing the night away or spending time at one of the local casinos or bingo halls.
A heartfelt thank-you to the caring, compassionate & dedicated front line staff at St. Peter’s Residence at Chedoke.
Due to COVID-19, a private family service has taken place & a celebration of her life will take place at a later date.
