Callaghan, John Thomas – Age 69, Truro, passed away unexpectedly on September 10, 2020. Born in Truro on November 12, 1950, he was a son of the late John and Annie (Grimes) Callaghan. John was retired from a career in management at Via Rail. Better known as Jack to all of his friends and family, his love for everyone was always shown through his smile. He loved sports including baseball, football, hockey, especially the Montreal Canadiens, but his true passion was horse racing. Left with loving memories are his daughter, Lori Callaghan of Shorewood, Wisconsin; son, Brian (Krista) of San Diego, California; granddaughter, Maya; siblings, Charlotte Burgess, Joan (George) Reid, Pius, Ann Higgins, Vernon (Barbara), all of Truro, Theresa (Jim) Hatcher of Dartmouth, Paul (Barbara) of Halifax as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother, Joseph “Harold” Callaghan; brother-in-law, Dennis Burgess; sister-in-law, Sheila Callaghan. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a memorial service will be held at a future date in Truro.
