1947-2020
Peacefully, with his family by his side, on Monday, January 20, 2020. Beloved husband of Ana for forty-five years. Devoted father of Jeffrey (Robyn Shiller) and Kevin (Lauren Belanger). Caring brother and brother-in-law of Sandi and Robert Horowitz, and Phyllis Pinsky; and brother-in-law of Ema and the late Gary Fagen, and Mirta and Joe Tuwaig. Cherished uncle of Tracey, Elisa, Erin, Daniel, Miranda and Kyra. He will be missed by his cats, Sassy and Shady. Joel will always be remembered for his kind heart, generosity, humour, strong sense of dedication, and being a human GPS. Special thanks to the staff from CLSC Pierrefonds, NOVA West Island, and the oncology team of Lakeshore General Hospital. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean-Talon St. W., on Wednesday, January 22 at 12:00 noon. Burial at Montreal Workers’ Circle Section, Kehal Israel Cemetery, D.D.O. Shiva at his home, Wednesday following burial until 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Saturday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Contributions in his memory may be made to NOVA West Island, (514) 695-8335.
