Obituary of Jeannine Franchuk
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear mother, Mémère, sister, auntie.
Jeannine was predeceased by her sons Léo 1975, Gerald 2003; brothers Louis, Guy, niece Terry; parents Aimé and Antoinette (nee Bouvier) Chartrand; Grandparents Pierre and Rose-Alma (nee Belanger) Bouvier; Baptiste et Clarisse (nee Larence) Chartrand.
Left to cherish Jeannine’s loving memory are her children Jean-Louis, Jacqueline, Michel, Marc; grandchildren Christina, Amy, Jenna, Sara-Jean, Lawrence, Irah, Ellen-Jean, Brendan, Nicole, Anthony, André; great-grandchildren Leah, Sean, Lauren, Peter, Noah, Ava, Bess-Lynn. Brothers Jules, Roland, André, Paul, Gerry, Bernard, Gilbert, George, Lionel, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jeannine was born in St. Boniface Hospital and grew up in St. Laurent Manitoba. Jeannine started school at Simonet School, a 2-classroom school at South St. Laurent until 1947. When the family moved to the North End. Jeannine continued her studies at St. Laurent School. She was involved in sports and was always a champion in school and community picnics and sport days at St. Laurent and Oak Point in long jump and high jump.
Jeannine was employed at the Ste. Anne Hospital until 1975. Then she was employed at St. Boniface Hospital in various departments ending her career on the Labour and Delivery Ward.
Jeannine was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed curling, playing Bingo and card games.
A member of the Holy Cross Parish.
A long-standing member of the Royal Canadian Legion and St. Boniface Hospital Retirement Club.
Special thank you to Uncle Jules, to the staff and customers of Johnny’s Restaurant who assisted on March 28, 2020, the fire department, Paramedics from Station 1 and the emergency staff at St. Boniface Hospital.
Due to Covid19 a private graveside service April 3, 2020, interred with her son Léo Lauzon Jr. Special thank you to Sister Rioux.
A celebration of life with family and friends will be held at a later date.

Nous l’avons aimé pendant sa vie, ne l’oublions pas après sa mort.
