Obituary of Jean Gwendolyn Coldwell
Jean Gwendolyn Coldwell, 87, formerly of Avonport, passed away Friday, May 8, 2020 in Shannex – Blomidon Court, Greenwich. Born January 3, 1933 in Black River, she was the daughter of the late Charles Emery and Vera (Reid) Nowlan.
She married Charles Coldwell in 1953 and they began their life together in Avonport. Jean’s focus was on raising their children and being a homemaker. She was a member of the Avonport Baptist Church and remained involved until her death.
She is survived by her sons Larry (Lynn), Harmony; Wade (Daniela), North Battleford, SK; Douglas, Hantsport; daughters Bonnie Collins (Rev. Quincy), Aylesford, Dianna Spurr (Steve), Hants Border; grandchildren Timothy, Jennifer, Brennan, Callista, Katrina, Christine and Mark; five great-grandchildren, plus one on the way; sisters Ruby Dodge, Bedford; Gail Ross, Kentville.
Besides her parents, Jean was predeceased by her husband, Charles; great-grandson Liam Collins; brothers Morley, Arden and Ronald; sisters Zena, Violet, Irma, Mabel and Ferne.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Shannex and to Dr. Matthew Targett for their genuine caring and professionalism during Mom’s residency in Shannex.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private graveside committal will take place and a public funeral held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made Avonport Baptist Church or charity of one’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Wolfville Funeral Chapel, 568 Main Street, Wolfville, B4P 1E5 (902-542-4656).
