Obituary of Jean Burte, Glace Bay
It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, Jean Burte, age 83 on Thursday, March 19th, 2020 at Seaview Manor, Glace Bay, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Eldon and Jennie (Worth) King.
Jean is survived by her four children, Helen (Steven Theal), Amherst, Nancy (Dougie Demeyere), Dominion, Susan (Robert MacAulay), Sydney, Eldon (Florence McCuish) Burte, Back Bay, N.B., one brother, Freddy King, Glace Bay, 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and very good friends, Leif and Marlene Morrison.
Jean was predeceased by her husband and best friend, George “Doad” Burte, two infant sons, her granddaughter, Micheala Burte, sisters, Doris, Dolly, Shirley, Helen, Gloria and her brother, Willy King.
Jean was a beautiful baker. She loved to knit and crochet and truly enjoyed making her daily trips to Tim Horton’s in Glace Bay where she had many friends who loved her and where the staff referred to her as, “Nana”. Before going to Seaview Manor, Jean attended the Adult Day Program at the Glace Bay Hospital where she met many friends.
At this time we would like to thank the staff at Seaview Manor for their love and compassion that was shown to our mom over the past 3 months; they made her final journey in life very enjoyable as she was treated with love and kindness and the greatest of care.
Also a special thank you to palliative care at Seaview Manor who went above and beyond in their compassion and care for both our mother and our family. God bless you all.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Center, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay.
A funeral service will be held at a LATER DATE in the funeral home chapel. Donations may be made to Seaview Manor in memory of Jean.
