Jean W. Duke
Jean Winnifred Duke, 93, of Faubourg
Du Mascaret Pavillon Cormier, Moncton, passed away peacefully to her
heavenly home with her family by her side, at The Moncton Hospital on
Wednesday, November 4, 2020. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter
of the late Talbert and Winnifred (Prosser) Northrup.
Jean was retired from The Moncton
Hospital as a Cardiology Technician with over 19 years of service.
Jean was a kind, caring and loving person who had a deep-rooted faith
in Jesus Christ and served him faithfully and She was a long-time
member of Sunny Brae Baptist Church where she was involved in the
Cathy McGorman Missionary Group, Sunday School Ministry, Choir
Ministry and Pioneer Girls. She was also a dedicated volunteer with
St. John Ambulance as a first aid instructor and transport officer and
also volunteered at the Crisis Pregnancy Centre and the Moncton
Community Chaplaincy.
Jean will be sadly missed by her
beloved children, Louanne Betts (Jim), Susan Sweezey (Doug) and David
John Duke; great grandchildren, Luke, Dale, Shane and Craig Betts;
Mark and Matthew Sweezey, great grandchildren, Kolin, Kaylee,
Savannah, Alexa, Drew, Anika, Joe and Brody Betts and Sloan and
Millitaw Sweezey; sisters in law, Belle Bulmer, Marjorie Bulmer and
Joyce Parker, many nieces, nephews, cousins, lifetime friends, Marion
Platt and Olive Merver; as well as her favorite furry visitor
Sammy.
In addition to her parents, Jean was
predeceased by her husband, John « Jack » H. Duke (Nov. 24,
2019), sister, Doris Bulmer and brothers, Wilfred and Kenneth;
cherished grandson, Christopher Sweezey.
Visitation will be held at Fergusons
Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Friday from
6:00 to 9:00 pm. A Service to Celebrate and Honor
Jean’s Life will be held from the Fergusons Funeral Home
Chapel on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Colin Cook
leading the service. Interment to be held in Elmwood
Cemetery, in the spring. Covid-19 restrictions and social
distancing guidelines must be followed and wearing of a mask is
mandatory while in the funeral home at all
times.
