Piper, Jean (nee: Oswald)
It is with profound sadness that the family of Jean Piper (nee Oswald) announces her passing after a brief but courageous battle with leukemia. Jean passed peacefully on December 13th 2020 at Innisfree House at the age of 94.
Dear mother of Joan and husband Andrew Vann of Kitchener and loving grandmother of Alyssa and Forrester Vann. Jean is survived by her brother, John (Shirley) Oswald and sister-in-law, Dolly Oswald.
She is predeceased by her loving husband Roy (2002), her parents, J. Oscor and Nelda Oswald (nee Reist), her sister Mae (Ed) Kubu, and her brother Ken Oswald.
Special thanks to Judy Theisen and to John and Shirley Oswald and their daughters Michelle and Denise for their love and support through this difficult time.
Jean took great joy in her family and enjoyed our weekly Sunday gatherings filled with laughter, dinners and often capped off with a spirited round or two of her favorite game Aggravation.
Our family would also like to share our heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Tam, Anita and all of the wonderful people at the Grand River Cancer Centre, Dr. Trussler at Grand River Hospital and the incredibly caring team at Innisfree House.
She was an active member of St. John’sTrillium Lutheran Church in Waterloo.
Jean was an avid lawn bowler, alley bowler, swing bowler and was a regular mall walker well into her 90’s. Her vibrant personality and amazing sense of humour will be greatly missed.
A private family service will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery (Breslau) to honour Jean. As expressions of sympathy please consider donating to Innisfree House (Kitchener).
