Wakeling, Jean:
We are sad to announce the passing of Jean Wakeling at the age of 96 years, peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital in Kitchener, Ontario, on December 9, 2020.
Jean was predeceased by her infant son Ronald and her husband Arnold Wakeling (1987) of 42 years.
She is survived by her son Brent Wakeling and daughter-in-law Hellen Wakeling.
Jean was born and raised in Pembroke, Ontario. Daughter of Herb and Alice Remus. Jean moved to Ottawa at the age of 19 to work at the Army headquarters as a secretary. This is where she met her husband. They moved to Kitchener, where she worked at St. Mary’s Hospital as an executive secretary, until her retirement at the age of 65.
Jean treasured the close friendships she made over the years and was grateful for their kindness as her health declined.
Jean was a faithful and long time member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
A private family service will be held.
