Obituary of James Allan Dixon
June 18th, 1950 – December 19th 2020 At the age of 70 and after a brief battle with cancer, it is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Allan Dixon. Jim will be deeply missed by his wife of 47 years, Nancy Dixon, children Christine MacLeod (Dan) and Jenny Toner (Shane). Always in his heart, his grandchildren, Hailey, Jenson and Finlay. Siblings Betty (Norm), Bud (Pat) (both deceased), Helen (Russell), Joanne (Burt, deceased). Predeceased by his parents Albert Dixon and Esther (Martin) and remembered by all who knew him. Jim was born in North Bay and grew up on a farm in a small town, where you worked hard and knew your neighbours. Jim was a true outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. His basement is like a museum where he showcases his many trophies. A walk through the forest with him was an educational experience; if you were ever lost in the woods, you would want him by your side. Jim was a hard worker and highly skilled lines man with Hydro One. His career with Hydro spanned more than 50 years! He was well respected and liked by everyone he worked with. Jim was a man of few words but when he did speak, you listened because what he said was impactful. A big thank you goes out to the nurses and staff at North Bay Regional Heath Center who provided exceptional care and compassion to Jim and his family over the past few months. A visitation will be held in his honor on Wednesday December 23rd, 2020 at Martyn Funeral Home from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. In accordance with the current pandemic restrictions imposed by the Bereavement Authority of Ontario please call the funeral home at 705-472-8810 to confirm a time for visitation. In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation would be appreciated.
