James William Aymar
January 08, 1917 – March 03, 2020
AYMAR, James – Age 103: Sadly, we announce the passing of James Aymar of Meteghan. The son of Fred and Lorette( Robichaud) Aymar. James was born in 1917 in Salem, Massachusetts of an Acadian Nova Scotia family. After serving in the army in WW2, James returned to Meteghan and settled with his young wife, Pauline, to build his home and raise a family. He worked as a barber, eventually buying the Aymar Barber Shop. James loved La Baie Sainte Marie and often claimed it was the best place to live in the world! He was a natural competitor whether on a ball field, a pool table, a cribbage board or a golf course. He could boast a perfect hand in cribbage (29), and two holes in one (he was older than 85 for both of them) but hockey was his enduring passion; the Canadians, his team. In his later years, James enjoyed a special group of friends (la Gang) and the appreciation of his community as a fine story-teller and eloquent connection to the past. The family is very grateful for the love, support and respect shown to him by his caregivers, neighbours and his community who made it possible for him stay in his home all his days. Un gros merci à tous! Other than his parents, James was predeceased by his loving wife, Pauline; his sisters, Stella, Annette, Ruth, Bertha and Doris. He is survived by his four children and his brother, George. Daughter, Joanne (Bernie) Comeau Yarmouth and their family Michelle (Darryl Bergman) Comeau with Vienne and Deni, Bobby( Jackie) Comeau with Falon and Marlow; daughter, Judy Aymar Upper Tantallon and her sons Jacob (Meghan Mahar) Killawee with Camille, Stephan (Victoria Craven) Killawee with Anna and James; daughter, Connie (Donald) Duchene Chester and their family David (Eva Romita) with Atom, and Andre and Natasha Duchene; son, Marcel (Anne Marie White) Ottawa and their sons Charlie and Leon Aymar. He remained supportive and committed to his family throughout his life. He is, for those of us who were privileged to know him, an inspiration to value every moment and to live with generosity and kindness.
