Obituary
Joshua Anthony Phillip Jeffrey Jr. was born in Hamilton, Ontario on December 21, 1969 and passed peacefully to his rest at about 9 p.m. November 8, 2020 in Vancouver, British Columbia. He grew up in the Royal City of Guelph, Ontario and graduated high school from Kingsway College in Oshawa. Phillip’s interest in people led him to study psychology and interdisciplinary studies at McMaster University and University of Guelph and pursue graduate studies at University of British Columbia. He explored the intersection of people and technology, including the notion of personal space in a virtual world. Phillip loved to read, to watch movies, to travel, and to take photographs. When his doctoral studies were interrupted by a multiple myeloma diagnosis, he used his photography and writing skills to chronicle his battle with the disease in an online blog fadetoplay.com that inspired many. Those who were his friends were taken with his positive attitude and winning smile. He will be remembered fondly by the family and friends that he called “my rock.” Phillip is predeceased by his father, J. A. P. Jeffrey, and leaves to mourn his mother, Eleanor P. Jeffrey, his brother, David, his sister-in-law, Mathy, his nephews Delorn and Briley, his niece Brielle, and many other relatives and friends. May he rest in peace, as we know he truly made this world a better place. Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to Myeloma Canada, 1255 TransCanada, Suite 160, Dorval, QC H9P 2V4 (myelomacanada.ca).
