Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Irvin Cleveland Gardiner announce his passing November 5, at the age of 90.
Irvin was born in Edmonton, February 9, 1930, to Florence and Earle Gardiner. He was the youngest of three boys.
Irvin spent most of his young life between Washington State and Alberta with his mother and her family. He moved to his fathers farm at the age of about 15 and remained on that property, “Five Mile Prairie” for the next 60 years farming cattle.
Irvin worked seasonally on the Alaska highway for many years always returning to the farm for the winter months.
Irvin moved from the farm after his wife Eleanor passed away. He decided to give life in Creston BC a try. He enjoyed his time in BC for about 4 years and then decided to move back to Edson Alberta.
It was at this time he married Emilie and spent the last years of his life with her, until his move into Mayerthorpe long term care 11 months ago.
Irvin always had a quick smile and an easy laugh to share with everyone. He was an avid hunter and trapper, spending much of his time in outdoor settings.
Irvin leaves behind his wife Emilie, along with numerous family and friends.
He was predeceased by his mother Florence, father Earle, and brothers Earl and Allen.
Irvin passed away peacefully in his sleep after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
