Loved by her family, Ida passed away peacefully in the evening of Thursday, October 29, 2020. She will be missed dearly by her loving family and friends. The cherished mother of her daughter Maddalena is now reunited with her predeceased family, son Michele and husband Antonio.
Born in Silvi Paese, Abruzzo Italy, Ida immigrated to Canada at the age of 34 with her husband and two children. Ida was proud of her Italian heritage. She often spoke of her life in France and in Italy, so that we would understand her history.
Ida was a loving, funny and a caring woman, always enjoying the simple things in life including her coffee. She enjoyed being a homemaker and having conversations with people. She was known for her joy of grocery shopping and really loved watching Italian television. Ida loved to make everyone laugh and saw the best in people.
Despite the struggles Ida and her husband had coming to Canada, she continued to be strong, smile and make others share her laughter. She loved telling her family stories and teaching us family life lessons.
Her daughter, son in law Giuseppe, as well as her grandchildren Nino, Rob, Ashley, Giuliano and her in laws Linda, Mario and Angela and her great grandchildren Michael, Joseph and Ava will forever hold her in their hearts.
Friends and family will be received at Bernardo Funeral Home (2960 Dufferin St., south of Lawrence Ave.) on Sunday, November 1, 2020 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Please note, that due to the COVID-19 Pandemic restrictions and social distancing requirements, for the visitation, the funeral home must conform to 30% occupancy capacity. Visitors may need to wait to enter the funeral home in order to maintain the capacity requirement. Face masks are mandatory and contact tracing information will be collected upon entering the building.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Church (640 Glenholme Ave., at Eglinton Ave. W. – east of Dufferin St.) on Monday, November 2, 2020 at 11:00 a.m.
A private entombment will follow at Prospect Cemetery. Due to the limited number of people allowed to gather, only the immediate family members will attend the services at the cemetery.
