Hanna Strawczynski
(née Rychter)
On Thursday, November 26, 2020. Wife of the late Oskar for sixty-four years. Mother of Eva Strawczynski and David Strawczynski (Rebecca Cohen). Grandmother of Robert and Jacob. Born in 1927 in Poland, Hanna was only 12 when the war started. She survived the Holocaust, including the Warsaw Ghetto and a slave labour camp. After the war, Hanna graduated from medical school and worked as a pediatrician in Warsaw. At the Montreal Children’s hospital, Hanna became a pioneer in the home care field. She created the first hemophilia home care treatment centre in 1969 and directed it for close to 25 years, making a real difference in the lives of countless children with bleeding disorders. Hanna was a lively and vibrant person who retained a love of books, Polish culture, and learning throughout her life. She was loved dearly by her extended family and many friends. Her love for her children was truly limitless. Burial service for immediate family. Memorial gathering to follow in 2021.
