LEDGERWOOD, Grace Elizabeth – (1934-2020) – Peacefully on December 12th, 2020 at Norview Lodge in Simcoe, after a lengthy battle with dementia. Loving wife of the late Ken Ledgerwood. Beloved mother to Nancy (pre-deceased), Ken (Wendy) and Dan. Loving Nana to Melissa, Patrick, Michael, Colin and Abigail. Born in Kingston to the late Jack and Ida Patterson. Beloved sister to Bill Patterson (Anne) of Kingston. Sister-in-law to the late Delores Patterson. Dear Aunt to Judy (Paul) Barclay and Janet (Doug) South. A 1956 graduate of the Kingston General Hospital Nursing School, she spent her career caring for others – which involved almost 30 years at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. Retiring to Simcoe, she was very involved in local community volunteering and programs such as the Senior Center, Senior Support Services, Mental Health and Addiction, Norfolk General Hospital, Caring Cupboard, MS Society and many others. Her dedication to volunteering, brought her Simcoe’s Citizen of the Year Award in 2003. She was a very active member of both Trinity Anglican Church in Simcoe and St Andrew’s by the Lake Church in Turkey Point. Cremation will be followed by a Private Family Service and Internment at the Cataraqui Cemetery in Kingston at a later date.
