Gordon Douglas Mortson
The family of Gordon Mortson sadly announce his passing on June 23, 2020 after a short battle with cancer. Gord died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. He was predeceased by his parents Tillie (Poyner) and Elmer Mortson. He is survived by Audrey, his loving wife of 40 years; children Amber (Danny) and Sean (Terri); six grandchildren Peyton, Mikayla, Jayce, Abby, Annika and Nash; his sister Cheryl (Peter) Boyenko and brother Jack (Dianne) Mortson; his sister-in-law(s) Sharon (Jerry) Leskowski and Rose Schafer; brother-in-law Gord (Deb) Baron as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Gord was born, January 18, 1953 in Vancouver and moved to Saskatoon as a young boy. After he married Audrey they moved to Martensville to raise their family. Gord worked for the Saskatoon Board of Education for 30 years as Manager of Purchasing Services. Gord was an exceptionally talented guitar player and song writer and has left behind many beautiful songs that will be cherished forever. He had a passion for gardening and enjoyed sitting on the swing with Audrey watching the birds and enjoying their beautiful backyard together. Gord loved spending time at Mariner’s Cove, Candle Lake. His favorite spot was on the beach watching his grandchildren play in the lake. Due to Covid-19 restrictions the family will be holding a private memorial service. The family would like to thank the Martensville Fire Department, Dr. Wong and the Palliative Care Team with the Saskatoon Health Authority for their compassionate care over the past month. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of choice.
