Passed away peacefully on December 15th, 2020, at the Juravinski Hospital in his 92nd year, with his family by his side. Beloved husband of Maria for 64 years. Will be dearly remembered by his children Dan, Tony (Laurie), Frank, and John (Amie). Cherished Nonno of Joseph (Kenzie), Matthew, Nicholas, and Michael. Predeceased by his mother and father Consiglia and Donato Temprile. Loving brother of the late Fillipo (Anna), Maria (the late Gerardo) Vilar, Lucy (the late Carmen) Muraca, Mike (the late Mary), and Rosa (David) Newhook, and loving brother-in-law of Rosetta (the late Giovanni) Ruggiero. Devoted uncle of the late Danny Ruggiero.
Giuseppe came to Canada in the early 1950s from Roseto, Valfortore, Italy, and ultimately settled in Hamilton. After various construction and labourer jobs, he was eventually hired by Stelco and would go on to work there for 42 years. Recognizing that with a little hard work there could be a better life in Canada, Giuseppe would send for his wife-to-be, his parents, and also his siblings, all of Italy, so that they, too, could come to Canada and have an opportunity for a better life. He enjoyed his garden, was a die-hard Leafs and Tigercats fan, but most of all Giuseppe derived his greatest joy by being a grandfather. He will always be remembered for the stories he shared, the jokes he cracked, or the advice he would impart to us all during our family gatherings.
Visitation will be held at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton St. E, (near James) on Friday, December 18th, from 3-8p.m. There is a limit to the number of people who can attend the visitation, and all guests must RSVP on Giuseppe’s tribute page at www.friscolanti.com, or by calling the funeral home during regular business hours (9a.m.-4p.m.) at 905-522-0912. A Funeral Mass will be offered at Annunciation of Our Lord Parish on Saturday, December 19th, 2020, at 10:30a.m. followed by a private entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. There are capacity limitations at the church, and all guests must RSVP for the Funeral Mass. In accordance with public health mandates, all guests are required to wear a face covering and practice physical distancing while at the funeral home and at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Parkinson’s Foundation, would be appreciated by the family.
