Gerrit’s Obituary
It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Gerrit on March 30, 2020 at Pasqua Hospital in Regina. Gerrit was 38 years old. Gerrit was the first of four boys born to Debbie and Gerald Lepine. The first years of Gerrit’s life were spent in Dryden, Ontario. Gerrit’s grandparents, Viola and Edward Wolanin were a big part of his life. With Uncle Craig showing Gerrit the wonders and joys of outdoor living; fishing, hunting, camping and BBQing. Camping remained an important and enjoyable part of Gerrit’s life which he loved to share with family and friends, but especially his daughters Danica and Zoe. Family time with his brothers was important with BBQ outings of all sorts which brough them together. He loved birthdays and Christmas just like his mom. As a duck takes to water, Gerrit took to boilermaking with ease, he loved his BM brothers. Often, they would flavorwave or BBQ meals to cap of the workday with a few beers and some tunes. His love for music was natural for Gerrit, with grandpa and dad being guitar players, Gerrit was soon to follow. In 1984, the Lepine family moved to Moose Jaw. Gerrit attended St. Margaret School and Vanier Collegiate and he graduated from Albert E. Peacock Collegiate. Gerrit attended the First Free Methodist Church in Moose Jaw where he made friendships with the Campbell’s, Caves and the Babich’s. He loved Arlington Beach Bible Camp. A great influence on his life was Mark McAllister who presented the gospel of Jesus Christ to a teenager. Before his passing Gerrit recommitted his life to the Lord Jesus. Gerrit was a gifted athlete with numerous awards in soccer and hockey. His love for sports centered around the Raptors, The Bills and the Avalanche. Gerrit was predeceased by his grandfather Edward Wolanin, Irene Lepine and his most beloved mother Debbie Lepine of Moose Jaw. Gerrit will be sadly missed by his daughters Danica, Zoe and Emily; father Gerry; brothers Nicolas, Michael and David; his favorite uncle Craig Wolanin, Grandma Vi Wolanin and many other uncles, aunts and cousins. “And from me my son… ain’t no sunshine when you’re gone. Thank you Lord for his beautiful life. “ A Memorial service to be held at a later date. In living memory of Gerrit, a memorial planting will be made by Jones – Parkview Funeral Services.
