Obituary
It is with the greatest sadness that we announce the passing of our father, husband, grandfather, and great-grandfather MWO George Victor Steeves. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, December 14th, 2020. He leaves behind his wife, Joan, his daughters Anne (Paul-2017) and Lynn, his brother Baxter (Dorothy), his sister-in-law, Audrey Cunningham (Bob) and Ann Misner (Aldrich). He was pre-deceased by his older brother Rod and sister-in-law Betty, his sister Thora Purdy, and her husband Ron along with his parents Elton and Myrtle Steeves and Joan’s parents Dunbar and Gladys MacKay.
George was born at home in Moncton, NB in January 1935 and moved to Stellarton with his family when he was 4. He lived there until he joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1958. George had a 32 year career in the Military and was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Regiment, 2nd Battalion. In 1992, he and Joan moved to West Kelowna and they both became involved in the Royal Canadian Legion, Westbank Br. 288 where he earned a Life Membership, MSM and Palm Leaf for his hard work. He leaves behind 4 grandchildren, 5 great granddaughters and 1 great grandson. He will be missed by many. The family would like to thank Dr Gerhard Verster, care staff of Interior Health and Hospice House Kelowna. There will be a celebration of George’s life some time in the new year depending on the circumstances surrounding the current pandemic. Instead of flowers, please consider a donation to Honour House. www.honourhouse.ca/
