It is with great sadness that the family of George Reginald Boden announces his sudden passing on Sunday, June 21st at the age of 77 years.
George grew up in Flesherton, Ontario, and had an opportunity to travel and live in different parts of Canada over his life, including Edmonton, Alberta, and Bowmanville, Ontario. George had a long career in sales and marketing, starting with Dupont in the 1970s and retiring from a position with the National Research Council working with entrepreneurs in the area of Industrial Research. George retained a love of learning, taking classes in his retirement at McMaster University where he continued to explore subjects of interest, particularly Philosophy, Religion and History.
A great lover of golf, he enjoyed his time on the fairways at a number of Oakville area courses, and was particularly pleased when he had the opportunity to golf St. Andrews on a trip to Scotland. George enjoyed tending to his stunning, colourful gardens and watching the birds. Inside the home, George was happiest in the kitchen where he loved to experiment and would inevitably produce a delicious meal, most lovingly for family get togethers or hosting friends.
George will be dearly missed by his loving wife Muriel. He was a devoted and supportive father to Liza (Tommy, dec.) and Jeff (Jane) and a cherished stepfather to Nicola (George) and Steve (Tonja). George was a much loved middle brother to Donna (Don) and Margo (Danny). He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Shawna, Richard, Dustin, Logan, Quinten, Alexander and Brianna, as well as his nieces and nephew. George is predeceased by his parents (Elizabeth) and (Reginald), as well as his first wife Dorothy. In addition to his family, George will be fondly remembered by a number of close friends, including his golf group. George will always be remembered for his sentimentality, his delightfully bold personality and his appreciation of good humour.
Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral home (1167 Guelph Line, Burlington) on Friday, June 26th from 4-6pm. Due to the circumstances of Covid-19, a private family funeral service will follow at a later time.
