Obituary for Gary Van Haecke
Gary Frank Van Haecke, a resident of Wallaceburg, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2020 at the age of 73. Gary is the beloved husband of 52 years to Patricia (Brooks). Loving father of Bonnie Chandler (Dave) and Carol (Aaron Sparling). Dear grandfather of Dylan, Breanna, Emily and Kelly and great grandfather of Grayson. Brother of Norma Authier (Paul Peck) and brother-in-law of Ron & MaryAnne Brooks, Larry & Marylee Brooks and Brenda & Willy Dunlop. He will also be missed by several nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Paul & Lucia (Demers) Van Haecke, mother & father-in-law Melvin & Phyllis Brooks, brother Harry and daughter Nicole Lozon. Gary had retired from Libbey Glass. He had a passion for antique cars, automotive memorabilia and car shows where he could display his 1970 Chevelle Super Sport. He was a fanatic about yard work, always taking great pride in the perfection of his lawn grass. He also enjoyed woodworking, creating bird houses, picture frames, an air pump and ‘Wilson over the fence with binoculars’. The HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg has been entrusted with the arrangements. A proper celebration of Gary’s life with interment in Riverview Cemetery will be announced at a later date.
