Cherished Husband, Loved
Brother,
Kind & Caring
Man
Gary left us at the dawn, peacefully, but before I could hold
him once more and say ‘Goodbye, My Love’ and ‘Thank you’
with a last kiss.
Life with him holds some of my most cherished memories;
laughter and working together as journalists and writers, memorable
holidays in Maine and on the Fundy Coast, sharing theatre, concerts
and art galleries, quiet Sundays with Chai latte and a Bach CD. He
became a loving father to all our cats, who brought him joy. He
supported my dual careers with enthusiasm and
happiness.
Before we married, Gary was my editor and a friend; a very
good basis for a loving relationship.
From the age of 15 he wanted only to be a journalist,
believing giving people the best information could help them make good
personal decisions. From his rookie reporter days in Corner Brook,
Newfoundland, he became City Editor in Sarnia and a respected Managing
Editor in Cornwall, Guelph, Woodstock and Welland,
Ontario.
To paraphrase the Welsh poet, Dylan Thomas –
« Go now, my love, gently into that good night, mind not
the dying of the light, for you brought light to
many. »
Know all our cats are there to welcome you and whatever path
you now tread they walk with their soft paws on that path with
you.
