Peacefully, on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at the Maple Manor Nursing Home, Frederick Roy Young of Tillsonburg passed away at the age of 93 years. Beloved husband of the late Ila Teall (1993). Loving father-in-law of Lois Young (nee Conklin). Much loved grandfather of Michael and Jill Ferguson (Brett). Cherished great grandpa of Natalie and Brenna. Brother of Pauline Herron and Gayle Simmons (Terry). Predeceased by his son David (2016), sisters Grace Baker, Lillian Lester, Winnifred Ross, and brother Wayne Young. Roy drove truck for most of his working life; he worked for Borden Dairy Company, International Carriers Limited (ICL), Yellow Freight and Verspeeten Cartage Ltd. Roy loved collecting Die Cast Toy Trucks. His other passions included NASCAR, travelling and training his favourite breed of dog, the Boxer. Roy will be sadly missed by his many friends, those he worked with and all who knew him. The family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to the amazing, hard-working and truly compassionate staff at Maple Manor Nursing Home. A Private Graveside Service will be held for Roy at the Tillsonburg Cemetery. Memorial donations to Oxford County Animal Rescue and the Parkinson Society of Southwestern Ontario would be appreciated and may be made by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221).
