Frank DeJong
Peacefully at the Brockville General Hospital on Thursday December 10th, 2020, at the age 76 years. Beloved husband of Dorothy DeJong (nee VanSpriel). Dear father of Jared DeJong (Karen), Sheila May (Ian), Jason DeJong (Laurie), Cheryl Moodie (Jonathan) and Joseph DeJong (Nika). Loving grandfather of 18 wonderful grandchildren. Frank will be sadly missed by his brother Barry, two sisters-in-law Cathy DeJong and Shirley DeJong, and two brothers-in-law, Dick Van Spriel (Rita) and Ed Van Spriel. Predeceased by his brother Peter DeJong, sister -in-law Corrie, and his sister Catherine De Roos and her husband Stewart. Frank was loved and will be missed by many nieces and nephews and their families.
Frank was a man with a strong, quiet faith, who loved his family, his church and his neighbours. He immigrated with his family from Holland and lived in the Redan area before moving to Colorado where he was a progressive hog farmer. He and his wife and children moved back to Ontario where he continued to live out his faith and integrity in his business and throughout his life.
Although Frank was uncomfortable in public places, he loved to share his insights and opinions with others, one on one. He was a personable man, who truly had the gift of encouragement.
Frank’s love for animals, nature and music was known and appreciated by his children and grandchildren. His tenderness and generosity were displayed in how he cared for those in need, and his empathy for those who struggled will be remembered. He will be dearly missed.
A Private Family Service will be held at the Athens Christian Reformed Church on Monday December 14th, 2020. Interment will take place at Glen Elbe Cemetery. In memoriam to Canadian Food Grains Bank (foodgrainsbank.ca) or the Athens Christian Reformed Church diaconate fund (treasurer@athenscrc.org) will be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
