It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Frances Patricia (Pat) Campbell on October 9, 2020 at Milton District Hospital with her devoted daughter, Colleen, by her side. Pat was born in Toronto on October 14, 1924. She recalled living through the Depression and World War II so was prepared to carry on during the COVID-19 pandemic and would have done so if not for the unfortunate fall that ended her long life.
Pat is survived by her son Don (Ghazal), her son Steve (Noreen), and her daughter Colleen (Dave). She was a beloved “Grandma” to her grandchildren: Lori, Billy, Nikki, Adriane, Laurie, Jeff, Sean, Justin, and Jordan; great-grandmother to: Kelsi, Jake, Kyle, Tyler, Alex, Sophia, Giovanni, Domenic, Jackson, Robbie, Keaton, Christian, and Connor; and great, great-grandmother to Elora and Killian. Fair and generous in all things, her love extended to mates and steps brought into the family fold.
Pat was predeceased by her dear husband David (Dave) in 1998, her beloved, eldest son Larry (2016) and her “little” sister Eva Lucille (Lou) Smith (2019).
A valued sister and sister-in-law, she leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will have fond memories of the fun and frolic of numerous Campbell family gatherings over the years.
Although Pat worked many years for Sears Canada, her main focus in life was her family. She and Dave enjoyed leisure time together at the cottage (with changing locations) or at their “double-wide” mobile home in Florida. They also travelled widely; whether camping with the kids or later, as a couple. As a widow, Pat formed friendships within her condo building where she pursued a socially and physically active lifestyle. A skillful painter, Pat had an appreciation of art and beauty that was reflected in her personal sense of style in both fashion and décor. She was interested in sewing, reading and spending time with friends and family whether at cards or in conversation. She was an excellent listener who was able to provide practical yet sage advice. Her indomitable spirit and determination allowed her to live independently and well into her 90s.
Cremation has taken place and as per Pat’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date when it is safe to gather.
If desired, memorial contributions can be made to a charity of your choice.
Pat’s strength of character and devotion to her family will remain an inspiration and cherished memory to all those who knew and loved her.
