Obituary of Florence (Hanington) Hicks
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Florence Rosalind (Hanington) Hicks at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on March 1st, 2020 at the age of 88. Florence was a mother, grandmother, and sister, born in Shediac Cape NB to John Moore and Ada Louisa Hanington on June 27th,1931.
She was born sixth in a large family and went on to become a teacher and have her own family, living most of her adult life in Middle Sackville. Florence leaves behind five children, Brenda Hicks, Nancy Crossman (Wendell), Elizabeth Hicks, Andrew Hicks, and Mary Lynn McIntyre (Rick), as well as four cherished grandchildren, Lindsay, Anneke, Nicholas and Morgan. She will be greatly missed by her surviving brothers, William and Allen; her sisters, Edith and Lilian, as well as by many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Hugh N Hicks and her sisters, Doris, Margaret, Ethel, Mary, and Muriel.
Florence will be remembered by her family and friends for her gentle, generous spirit and her appreciation and passion for the natural world around us, which she in turn passed on to her children. The many stories she read them, her recipes, and enjoyment of nature’s bounty of fruit, will be her legacy in the minds of her children.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville N.B. (506) 364-8188. The funeral service will take place at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Sackville, on Saturday, March 7, 2020 with the time to be announced. The burial will take place at a later date in the St. Martins in the Woods Anglican Cemetery, Shediac, NB.
