Known to, and loved by her many family members and friends, Aunt Florence passed away April 28, 2020 at the age of 94. Born in Bayswater, Lunenburg Co. in 1925, Florence was a daughter of Julia Hubley and stepfather, Robie Hatt. Much of her early life was spent with loving grandmother, Mary Ester (Munroe) Hubley next to the beautiful Bayswater Beach. Florence is survived by many nieces and nephews, and especially nieces, Elaine Lange, Melody Richard and nephew, Peter L. McCreath. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Captain Ernest Shatford, as well as by brothers, Henry, Chester, Burnell and Tom Hatt, and sisters, Evelyn Hatt, Olive Hatt, Jessie Jeffery, and Pearl Kaiser. Married in 1944, Florence and Ernest began their married life in Montreal, then spent 25 years in the Vancouver area, where they ran their gift supply company, Shatford Agencies. They retired to Nova Scotia in 1967, first to Chester, than to Halifax. Back in Nova Scotia, Florence was an active community volunteer for several years at the Bonnylea Farm, and after moving to Halifax became an active member of Bayers Road Baptist Church. At Florence’s request, there will be no funeral. A burial ceremony will take place in All Saints Anglican Cemetery in Bayswater at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made either to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or Canadian Cancer Society. On-line condolences may be made at: www.rawalker.ca
