Euclide M Léger
1927-2020
Euclide M. Léger, 93, of Faubourg du Mascaret, Pavillon Richard
in Moncton and formerly of Saint-Antoine, passed away peacefully
surrounded by his family at the Faubourg on Sunday August 16, 2020.
Born in Saint-Paul, he was the son of the late Marcelin and the late
Henriette (Gosselin) Léger.
Euclide was proud to be a part of several organizations, such as
Director of the Chamber of Commerce, a founding member to the Lions
Club in Saint-Antoine and Bouctouche. He was a former president of
the Saint-Antoine Lions Club. He was a member of the Provincial
Industrial Development Commission, member of the provincial court of
appeal for property value as well as a justice of the peace. A
business man from an early age, he was devoted to the Cooperative
Movement. He was manager of the Saint-Antoine Caisse Populaire for 14
years, president of the Kent chapter, president of the Board of
Directors, a director of the Fédération des Caisses
populaires acadiennes for 23 years (1952 … 1975). Euclide was
also an administrator for the SACPA for 25 years (1952 … 1975)
and became president from 1972 to 1976. Euclide loved to hunt and
fish for which he was a provincial guide. He was very passionate by
the local, provincial and federal politics. He also participated in
local and provincial Shuffleboard tournaments until 2015 with the
Royal Canadian Legion where he was a member and volunteer until the
age of 87.
He will be sadly missed by his two children; Gilles (Dorine) of
Dieppe, Gisèle Richard (Arcade) of Saint-Antoine as well as three
grandchildren; Chantal (Fabian), Martin (Marie-Claude) and
Nicole(Monica) and two great grandchildren; Rémi and Carson
Melanson. He also leaves to mourn several nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by one son Guy (1973), two sisters; Rita and Marie
as well as four brothers; Gerard, Aimé, Zoël and
Elzéar. He was the last survivor of his family.
Thank you to the staff of Pavillon Richard who showed him love and
affection.
Due to the pandemic, private visitations and a private Mass will be
celebrated at the Saint-Antoine l’Ermite Roman Catholic Church,
Saint-Antoine at a later date. Interment will in the parish
cemetery.
