Ernest Jacob Kraus was born on February 5, 1930 and passed away peacefully June 9, 2020 at the age of 90 years. Ernie grew up on the farm north of Wakaw and married Eden Reynaud. They started their married lives in Wakaw, moving to the farm north of town in 1964, then settling back in town to enjoy their retirement in 2000. They celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on June 2, 2020. Having been raised in a house with four boys, Ernie and Eden also had four sons: Carey (Myrna) of Dewberry, AB and their children: Julie (Jordy) and Kevin; Allan of Calgary, AB and his children: Kim and Todd (Megan) and their children Teagan and Emmy Lou; Dale (Elaine) of Wakaw, SK and their children: Amber and her son Emric, Megan (Iain) and Lindsay; and Murray (Mary Pat) of Langley, BC and their children: Lyle and Taryn. Ernie was very excited to celebrate his 90th birthday this past February with the extended family. Dad was a truck driver and farmer by profession. His collecting of old trucks and tractors continued after moving off the farm, providing adventures, precision parking lines and brightening Laura’s view. Dad’s passion for farming never stopped and luckily he and Eden were able to do one last tour of the seeding progress together this spring. He loved to visit with people, tell stories and had an uncanny ability to remember the life events of everyone whom he had ever met. We have lost our family historian. Dad was a very social person, an active supporter of the community, a member of Club 99, Knights of Columbus, the Sears Store Coffee Club and Wakaw Coffee Row. Ernie was preceded by his parents, Annie and Ignace, and his brother Richard. He is survived by brothers Arnold (Marge) and Herman (Pat) and his sister-in-law Adeline. A private Mass of Christian Burial was held at the St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church in Wakaw with Rev. Fr Matthew Nguyen as celebrant. Interment of the Urn followed at the St. Theresa Roman Catholic Cemetery. Donations in memory of Ernie may be directed to the St. Theresa Parish. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Marc Blondeau of Kushneryk Funeral Service, Wakaw, SK, 306-233-4403.
