Emily Kessler
1931 – 2020
Emily Kessler, beloved wife of the late Edward Kessler, passed away peacefully at the Good Samaritan Society in Medicine Hat on Thursday, September 3, 2020, at the age of 88 years. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children Peggy Anderson and Alan (Cheryl) Kessler. She was loved dearly by her six grandchildren: Kelsey (Jessica) Anderson, Haley (Tyler) Debnam, Lindsey (Lorin) Kessler, Brennan Kessler (Ashley Radke), Logan (Jacey) Kessler and Jenae (Mitch) Berg. Her memory will be carried on by her 11 great-grandchildren: Emily and Isla Debnam, Amelianna, Benjamin and Joshua Anderson, Taylor and Mila Kessler, Memphis and Copelan Berg as well as Journey and Jersey Kessler. Emily was predeceased by her parents, Tony and Frances Schlosser as well as her siblings, Bill and Irma Schlosser. In 1931, Emily was born on a farm in Fox Valley. At the age of 18, she moved to Swift Current to pursue a career in health care. It was here that she found her love of baseball and joined her first softball team. Moving to Medicine Hat, she found her first job as a nurses’ aide at MacCharles Hospital. At 21, she married the love of her life, Edward Kessler. In 1958, she began her career of 31 years with Domglas and retired at the age of 57. Edward and Emily traveled all over North America in their trusty RV. She loved camping and exploring with her family and the Good Sam’s Club. Emily enjoyed bowling and would go on to become a champion 5 pin bowler. Her yard and house were immaculate, filled with a beautiful array of flowers and solar lights. Emily was a diehard Tigers fan and season ticket holder since 1970. Nothing would keep her from a game. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Good Samaritan Society for their exceptional care and kindness. A graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery in the Field of Honour (at Edward Kessler’s monument) on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. with a celebration to follow thereafter after Whiskey Creek, 937 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat beginning at 2:30 p.m. Due to restrictions in place with regards to COVID – 19 from the Chief Medical Officer of Health – funeral receptions are now limited to no more than 50 attendees.
