Emilie was born March 20, 1937 on the family homestead 15 miles South of Avonlea, Saskatchewan and passed away peacefully on December 12, 2020 at the Salem Manor Nursing Home in Leduc, Alberta where she had resided the last 16 months. She was predeceased by her husband Cliff; daughter Tracey; parents Grace & Emil Paicu; sisters Pauline, Georgina, Jennie, and Marie; brother Willy; siblings lost in infancy Georgina, Maxine and Johnny; brothers-in-law Tony, Fred and Wayne. Emilie is survived by her son Stewart (Thelma); her son Rick (Gail); granddaughters Addyson and Jillian; Thelma’s son Shawn (Rebecca) and their children (Brody, Lenaya and Nolan), her daughter Brandy (Kevin) and their children Raelyn and Cameron, and her son Brad; Emilie’s brother George (Alma); brothers-in-law Tom and Elmer; sisters-in-law Carol and Irene; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Emilie grew up on her family’s farm, attended Conger school nearby for a few years before spending the rest of her school years in Regina with many of her siblings. She married on Valentine’s Day of 1959 and soon after started a family. In the almost 30 years of marriage with Cliff they spent half of that in Saskatchewan before relocating with Imperial Oil to Sherwood Park in 1973 where they enjoyed their new community, son’s sports, slow-pitch and bowling teams, camping and many fun times with friends and family.
Emilie was an avid gardener and enjoyed her time spent keeping her yard tidy and her family provided for with the bounty from her garden. She enjoyed frequent travel with family and friends, weekly activities of lunches and bingo and her daily routines in keeping up with the news and world events as well as her extensive collection of stamps. Emilie was a proud and active Esso Annuitant and enjoyed many years of bowling, golf and other club activities.
At her request, a private family celebration of life and placement alongside her beloved daughter will be held in Regina, Saskatchewan at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Parkinson Association of Alberta or the Terry Fox Foundation in Emilie’s memory.
Many thanks to the staff at Salem Manor in Leduc and prior to there at the Silver Birch Lodge in Sherwood Park for the compassionate care she received these past 3 years. Our sincere thanks as well to her close, dear friends of Sherwood Park who supported her so well in her Glen Allen home and community in later years.
