Elvin’s Obituary
Our Dad passed away peacefully March 3 2018 at Heart of the Valley LTCF in Middleton. He was 96 years old and lived all his life in Wilmot. He is survived by his wife Ruth (Foster) of 72 years marriage, daughters Carolyn (Vaughn) FitzGerald, Marsha (Brian) Connell, Norma (Bob) Bent, June (George) Reagh, eight grandchildren Ryan FitzGerald, Alison FitzGerald, Scott Neville, Jennifer Theriault, Andrew Bent, Andrea Bent, Tasha Terrauds, Sarah Allen and ten great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He has one remaining sister Delma Taylor of Wilmot. He was predeceased by his parents Norman and Bessie Wilkins, two brothers Oren and Norman Jr. Dad was on outdoor person who farmed all his life and will be remembered for his love of dogs and selling » the best rhubarb » in the Valley at roadside. He loved to walk his land, play 45’s with Hope and Doug and watch the wildlife from his favourite chair by the window. You knew you were in for some time when he started telling his stories. Dad loved to see the grand and great grandchildren come for a visit. In recent years, Dad would provide a gift to each child, no matter how « big or small ». A joint memorial service will be held for Ruth and Elvin at 2:30PM Sunday, January 19, 2020 in the Middleton Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Christine Marie Gladu officiaitng. Interment will be in the Wiswall Cemetery, Wilmot. A special thank you to Dr. Saxon and the staff at Heart of the Valley LTCF. Donations in Dad’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
