Obituary
(Elsie) Elizabeth Litwin
(nee Chrusch)
It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we announce Elsie Litwin passed away at the age of 79. Elsie was predeceased by her son Michael, parents Dan and Emily Chrusch, sisters May, Kay, Anne, Mary, Helen and Connie, brothers Paul, Peter, Dennis and Richard.
Left to cherish her memory are her grandson Blain and his mother Shelly (Greg), nephew Richard (Ann), sisters Jeanie, Julie (Ray), Emily, brothers Frank( Christine), Gary (Grace), numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Elsie was born and raised on the family farm in Stead, MB. She attended school in Stead and later moved to Winnipeg. In the early 70’s Elsie moved to Gimli with her family. She worked at Saunders Aircraft then at Gimli Betel as a cook for 30 years. After her retirement Elsie had no intention of slowing down and she started cleaning for seniors for the next 10 years.
Elsie was a fun loving, kind, generous soul and everyone who met her loved her. She could lift ones spirits just with her beautiful smile. She loved to spoil her grandson and spending time with him gave her tremendous joy. Elsie was a true care giver, she would take care of you when you were sick, injured or recovering from a big operation. She was hard working and loved to cook and entertain. If you were lucky enough to attend one of Elsie’s dinners or party’s you sure never left hungry. Elsie loved to curl and was active in mixed curling and with the ladies league for years and one of her favorite things to do was watch curling on TV. Elsie also loved to garden whether it was vegetables or flowers. She spent hours in the garden at Shelly’s and took pride in her flower gardens at home. Another of Elsie’s favorite things to do was to meet with her friends for coffee and chat.
We would like to thank the staff and volunteers at Gimli Betel for the excellent care Elsie received this past year. Elsie was very happy there and had nothing but good things to say about everyone there. We would also like to thank the staff at Gimli Hospital for their compassion and care for Elsie. A special thank you to Betty for going above and beyond for Elsie, we truly appreciate everything you did.
A private family internment will be held sometime in the next few weeks and a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation
