It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Marguerite Stamer on August 1st, 2020 at the age of 77 in the presence of her family after a two year struggle with cancer.
Elizabeth was born in Rossland, BC where her father Harry, was employed with Cominco. Upon her family’s later move to Calgary, Elizabeth completed her school years, got married, started a family and began a much loved, 60 year career as a hairdresser. During these years she also became a long time member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority, where enduring friendships were forged.
After a move to North Vancouver in 1969 and a divorce, Elizabeth continued her career in hairdressing while enjoying an active life on the North Shore with her son. A number of years later Don Stamer came into her life and after a two year long distance relationship she moved to Ft. Nelson where they all spent four happy years before moving back down to the lower mainland and settling first in Tsawwassen and then White Rock/ South Surrey.
Elizabeth enjoyed volunteer work with Women’s Place during these years and also did some day counselling for B.C Mental Health for which she received a certificate that she was proud of.
Elizabeth’s passions were her grandchildren, her hundreds of client friendships over the years, travel, cooking, baking, the White Rock theatre, Sundays at Cloverdale race track, gardening, home decorating and her beloved pets.
Elizabeth is predeceased by her parents Florence and Harry as well as brothers Warren and Brian Davidson. She leaves behind her much loved husband Donovan of 42 years, son Scott and family, Don’s son Greg and family, including many relatives in the Stamer family throughout British Columbia.
Our family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all Fraser Health palliative home care nurses who assisted Elizabeth in recent months while at home, the Laurel Place Hospice nursing staff as well as her close neighbors and friends who were there for her each day.
Elizabeth will rest peacefully at the Heritage Gardens Cemetery in Surrey, BC.
