Obituary of Eleanor McKnight
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Eleanor at the Sault Area Hospital on Saturday, January 4, 2020 in her 91st year. Now united with her beloved husband of 66 years, Herbert. Loving mother of Keith (Margaret), Garry (Laurie), Cheryl, Sharon (late Art), Colleen and Shauna-Lee (Will). Much loved grandmother of Kelly, John, Lyndsy, Kerri-Lynn, Cory, Kristy, Leslie, Alannah, Gloria and Monique. Great-grandmother of 15. Daughter of the late Otto and Lena Nitschke. Predeceased by her siblings Edna (late Art), Hilda, Herbert (late Viola), Fredrick (Ethel), Wilbert (late Anne), Helen (late Peter), Laurence (late Ann) and Eileen (late Enard). Sister-in-law of the late Vera Nitschke. She will be missed by her many friends at the Senior Drop In Centre, Swedish Weaving and Bunka classes. Mum was a big hockey fan and enjoyed following the Sault Greyhounds and the Toronto Maple Leafs in particular. Mum was a strong woman and devoted wife and mother. Always loving and concerned for everyone she loved. She loved her pets and treated them as members of the family, especially Bentley. Mum was an avid knitter, and always had knitting on the go with plenty of socks and mitts for anyone who needed them. As per Eleanor’s request, there will be no funeral service. Memorial donations to Tracy’s Dream or the Canadian Blood Services would be appreciated. Much thanks to the staff in Emerge and ICU at the Sault Area Hospital.
