Obituary of Eleanor June Fink
In the morning hours of Tuesday, December 22, 2020, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend Eleanor Fink passed away peacefully at home in the loving arms of her daughter Sonya. Eleanor was the fourth of six children born to Clifford and Helen Shier of Semans, SK, in August 1946. Growing up on a farm with no running water, she learned to be a very hard worker, a trait she kept her entire life. After living on the family farm for a few years, Eleanor, her husband Cy and their four children moved to Regina in 1967 where she raised her four children along with her youngest brother, Brian. All five children were within six years of age. They were her greatest joy in life. She studied and received a medical transcriptionist diploma, then worked full time for the Regina Hospitals from 1970 until 2016. Her family, immediate and extended, was most important to her. Every Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving – she would have a special meal and gathering for all family and friends who could attend, including Christmas 2019, even though her health was failing. She was the hub of the family wheel that kept all of the family connected over the years. All were welcome at her house – even for staying a few days or weeks. Eleanor was so loving and giving – always thinking of others before herself. She never complained of the extra work or of her medical condition. A lifetime of giving and doing for others.
Predeceased by her father Clifford (1961); mother Helen (2016); brother-in-law Bill Noy; and son David (November 2020). Eleanor is survived by her children Sonya, Woody (Kim), Sandy and Brian (brother she raised); siblings Wally (Sharon), Vivian Noy, Marvis Seel, James (Delores) and Brian; nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; as well as many other family members and friends who will miss this wonderful lady.
A memorial gathering will be held in the Spring of 2021, date and location to be announced.
