Thompson: Elaine
Passed away peacefully on February 29, 2020 after a kickass battle with cancer with her family by her side. Beloved wife of the late Hugh Thompson. Loving mother of Ross Thompson (Robin), Lisa Thompson (John), Erin Thompson (Richie) and Meredith Thompson (Joe). Dear Gramma of Taylor (Stevan), Lindsay (Mason), Amelia, Josie (Marcus), Hughie (Julia) and Lucas. Cherished Great-Gramma of Charlotte. Predeceased by her parents, Chum and Marr Ross Sr, and by her brother Marr Ross Jr. Elaine will be sadly missed by all of those who knew her.
Elaine was a dedicated swim coach of the Orillia Channel Cats Swim Club for over 30 years and was an Orillia Sports Hall of Fame inductee as a builder of sport in 2015. Elaine was awarded the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers in recognition of her contribution to the community by the Office of the Secretary to the Governor General. Elaine was a longtime employee of Brewery Bay Food Company and Affordable Business Service.
There will be no funeral at Elaine’s request. There will be a Celebration of Life in the spring. We will miss her beautiful smile, her positive energy and her amazing laugh. Elaine believed in family first. As Mom would always say, “It’s a great life if you don’t weaken”. We will always love you. Love from your 4 kids.
