Mary Elaine MacKeigan
Sydney Mines
It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Elaine (MacNeil) MacKeigan, on Thursday, November 19, 2020, surrounded by her loving children, after a brief but hard-fought battle.
She grew up in Groves Point, and was the daughter of the late Malcolm and Lillian (Peddle) MacNeil.
After having her children, she went back to school to complete her GED. She then obtained a diploma in Continuing Care, and went on to become a long-time employee of Resi-Care. She loved her job and her work family, especially her colleagues and the residents at Gordon Whitney.
She loved her family and friends dearly, and was always there when someone needed her. She was strong and resilient, with an unwavering determination in life. She loved spending time with the people that mattered most, especially her grandchildren, who thought the world of her. She also enjoyed the ocean, going for drives, and animals.
She will be sadly missed and forever remembered by her four children, Jennifer (Jimmy), Curtis (Laura), Rachael, and Tanya; the light of her life, her two precious grandchildren, Jovie and Cohen; sister, Elizabeth (Michael) Brogan; brothers, Harry (Heather) MacNeil, and Kenny MacNeil; sister-in-law, Anita Brown; friend, Mandy Jabalee; best friend of 43 years, Marilyn Broderick; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Besides her parents, Elaine was predeceased by her sister, Jean Brown; brothers, David Brown and Billy MacNeil; sister-in-law, Darlene MacNeil; and former husband, and friend, Dougie.
No service will take place at this time. The family welcomes anyone who would like to share their favourite story or picture of Elaine in her honour.
Memorial donations in Elaine’s name may be made to the Horizon Achievement Centre, or a charity of choice. Words of comfort may be forwarded to her family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
We will always carry you in our hearts.
