Edwin Dempsey Brett Tinkler
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Edwin (Ed) Tinkler on October 26, 2020 at Kildonan Personal Care Home with family at his side.
He was predeceased by his wives, Elizabeth (Betty, mother of his children) and Mildred (Millie), his brothers Robert (Bob) and Brian. He is survived by his children Brett (Josie) Tinkler, Dianne (Ross) McKenzie and Scott (Lise Fiola) Tinkler; grandchildren Colin and Anastasia Tinkler, Oliver (Paige), Luke and Chris McKenzie, Kara Tinkler, Joey Fiola (Christel Lanthier); great-grandchildren Eleanor and Penelope McKenzie and Olivia, Anne Rose and Lila Lanthier; sister-in-law Bev Tinkler, nieces, nephews and his good friend Shelagh Reinisch
Ed was born August 27, 1929 in Winnipeg. He attended Isaac Brock and Daniel McIntyre Schools and later completed a degree in Business Administration from the University of Manitoba. He worked as an Apprentice in the shops of Air Canada until he started his career at Manitoba Telephone System (MTS) which spanned over 40 years and he retired as Vice-President Eastern Region.
Dad was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, active in the Brandon and Selkirk Kinsmen Clubs, a third degree Scottish Rite Master Mason and member of the Shriner’s Antique Car Club. When he was younger he enjoyed downhill skiing, cycling, and taking the train to Grand Beach on weekends. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed field trialing and hunting with his Black Labs.
In retirement for over 20 years he joined the snowbird community and divided his time between Arnes, Manitoba and Phoenix, Arizona. He was a member of the Winnipeg Remote Control Flying Club and built many RC models which he loved to fly at their airstrip north of Winnipeg.
Dad was well respected by his countless friends and many colleagues; he will be dearly missed.
The family wishes to thank the Staff of the Kildonan Personal Care home for their excellent care of our father during his stay with them. We deeply appreciate your dedication to your residents!
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Ed’s life will take place at Gilbart Funeral Home in Selkirk MB on November 3rd at 11:00 a.m. followed by private family interment at St. Clements Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Diabetes Association of Canada, the Shriners Hospital for Children or a charity of your choice.
