Edward ‘Ed’ MacMillan
1939-2020
Neil Edward « Ed » MacMillan, 81, passed away
at Glen Haven Manor Nursing Home, New Glasgow, October 29,
2020.
He was born May 30, 1939 in New Glasgow to the late Anthony
and Winnie (George) MacMillan. Ed was a machinist by trade. He went to
work at Trenton Works at 16 and spent 49 years there until retirement
at 65. During his time at Trenton Works he was president of USW 1231
union. After retirement, he enjoyed tinkering in his backyard shop. He
was an avid recreational hunter and fisher. Ed loved all the visits
from his friends and family, especially the visits from his
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra (Cameron); daughters: Kim
Earle, Karen (Doug) Harris; stepchildren: Sharon MacLean (Mike),
Ronnie (Margie) Walsh, Pearl Walsh (Lou), Joanne Walsh; sisters:
Anita, Janet and Elizabeth; brothers: Ron (Marlyn), Paul (Rita),
Francis (Shirley); sister-in-law, Becky; stepdaughter-in-law, Pam;
grandchildren: Jeff (Denise), Vernon (Angie), Brad (Jennifer), Arlene,
Christina (Dylan), Brett (Jenine), Myles (Kyla), Lance; 15 step
grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and
cousins.
Aside from his parents he was predeceased by daughters, Karla
and Kenda; stepchildren, Valerie and Billy; brothers, John, Hughie and
Jim; sisters, Sarah and Mary; sister-in-law, Edith; brothers-in-law,
Ray and Kevin.
Ed’s family wish to thank the wonderful nurses and
staff of River Glen, at Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow for the
excellent care.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of R.H. Porter Funeral
Home. Cremation has taken place. Visitation 7-9pm Sunday, November 1,
in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Avenue, New Glasgow. Those
attending must practice social distancing and wear a mask. A private
Funeral Mass will take place in Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic
Church. Donations in his memory may be made to Glen Haven Recreational
Fund.
