Shaw, Thomas William Edgar
October 20, 1934 – December 21, 2020
Peacefully at the Ottawa Hospital, Civic Campus in his 87th year. Beloved husband and best friend of Mary (nee Phillips) for 58 years. Loving father of Erin (Darrel Francis) of Ottawa, William (Tina Li of Guangzhou, China) and the late Kevin. Special Grandpa to Hilliard and Alastair Francis. Dear son of the late Gertrude and Alexander. Dear brother of Ruby Wayling (the late Edward) of Regina, SK and the late Orville (Ramona) of Carlsbad Springs. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Born in Ottawa, Edgar grew up on the Shaw family farm in Carlsbad Springs, which he ran for a time alongside his mother. He then worked briefly at Shaw’s Dairy and then Clark’s Dairy for a number of years. In the early 1970’s, Edgar became fulltime landlord, operating his apartment buildings in the Centretown area of Ottawa for several decades before retiring in recent years.
