Obituary of Dorothy Maude Keller
We are sad to announce that Dorothy Maude Keller (Barnsley) passed away peacefully, with family at her side, on April 1, 2020. Dorothy, or Doad(ie) as she was affectionately known, was predeceased by Ador, her husband of 68 years; parents Arthur and Mabel Barnsley; brother Donald; and sister Hilda (Layton/McKee); and Jeannie Straub, granddaughter in law.
Left to cherish Dorothy’s memory are her children Colin (Colleen), Donna (Murray) Flotre, Dora(Gerald) Mushka and Brian (Michelle Hanninen); daughter in law Gwen; nephew Lorrie Layton; her grandchildren Jared (Mykea), Alicia (Kyle) Blake, Sean Flotre, Tristan Flotre, Elizabeth (Eric) Stretch (Flotre), Lindsay (Darrell) Eason, and Mathew (Jennifer); and greatgrandchildren, Zayden Keller, Carson, Colton and Ryley Blake, Rylan, Avery and Aeowyn Flotre, Charlotte Stretch, Airlie and Joely Eason, and baby girl Keller; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Mom was born on June 8, 1924, in Valor near Assiniboia, SK. Later the family moved to a farm south of Rockglen where mom met and married Ador Keller in 1944. They settled down to the business of farming and raising four children. She was also Girl Guide leader and later became District Commissioner. Mom and dad retired to Regina in the mid 1970’s where mom continued volunteering with the Regina General Hospital Auxiliary as one of its founding members, and singing in the Broadway United Church Choir.
Mom enjoyed gardening, knitting, crochet and crafting, but she loved people most of all. She especially loved beating us at game of pool at the many family celebrations she hosted. Her home and heart were always open, her generosity was boundless, her laughter was easy, and her love shone through every part of her life.
Good bye our beloved Doadie, we will miss the sparkle in your eye and the smile on your face. A memorial/burial service will be held at a later date when we are all free to meet and hug each other again. Until then please carry Mom in your hearts and memories.
The family would like to thank Meadow Edge Care Home, Lumsden, SK and Pasqua Palliative Care Unit, Regina, SK for your loving care. Funeral arrangements are by Paragon Funeral and Cremation Services, Regina.
