Dorothy Lynn 2020

It is with immense sadness, but a ton of cherished memories that we say goodbye to Dorothy Lynn. She passed at a young 61 years of age on June 23rd. Dorothy leaves behind her husband of 40 years Marcel Lamontagne, 3 daughters, 2 sons-in-law, 3 cherished grandchildren, and numerous siblings, in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was the youngest daughter of Victor and Roberta Lynn. She was raised in Warman, Saskatchewan where hard-work and commitment to sport were instilled in her every day. She has passed down those traits lovingly with the reminder “don’t do tomorrow what you can get done today” every time the thought of a project was presented to her. Dorothy was always busy in many ways. While raising her children, she co-owned a small craft store in their hometown of Shellbrook. Although busy, this provided her the flexibility to support all the activities the girls were in and volunteer for countless fundraising events, parent chaperoning, and anything else that was needed. Volunteering was important to Dorothy and she became passionate for everything her girls or grandchildren had interest in. Over the years, she dedicated many hours and support to St. John Bosco Camp, fundraising endeavors, and large-scale events. The ball diamonds were a second home to Dorothy, first as a supporter of the girls through their softball careers and then as the number 1 fan to her grandson playing baseball.
Dorothy and Marcel raised their family in Shellbrook and had a cabin at Emerald Lake Regional Park. The plan from day one was for the cabin to become their summer retirement home and to become Arizona snowbirds in the winter. They chose to live their best life for the past 10 years by enjoying the warm sun in Arizona, making numerous friends along the way. Summers were spent at the cabin they built watching their children and grandchildren play and grow, with fresh cookies always in the cookie jar and an endless supply of card games. At Emerald Lake where the family cabin was, Dorothy was a very involved volunteer for many years in different roles, always filling a need. The most recent was as the chair of the History Book Committee, a gift of love she dedicated thousands of hours and endless research into, to provide all residents memories to cherish forever.
Over the years, many friends came and went, but all became part of the family. The door was always open to friends of the girls and they were often referred to as her other children, daughter or son.
The past 10 years of winters in Arizona Dorothy was truly able to enjoy every minute ensuring she could do the things she loved. There was always a schedule in the kitchen to guarantee she could fit all of her activities in, and often it was fuller than when the girls were young and all had extracurricular! Over the course of a winter she would make many trips to the airport and it was one of her favorite places to go, as it always meant someone she loved was coming to visit. Her brother and sister also have places there and they were lucky to spend a lot of time together… especially over some special drinks. She loved pickleball and would play every day for at least a couple of hours and sometimes would fit in 3 sessions a day. Thursdays were spent by the pool for “Thirsty Thursday” where the crew listened to music and Marcel was part of the band. She loved nothing more than to listen to Marcel playing his guitar, and when he wasn’t part of the band, she had him on the dance floor.
To the memory of Dorothy, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. John Bosco Wilderness Camp.

Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Dorothy Lynn 2020..
