Dorothy passed peacefully at Pioneer Manor, April 29th, 2020. She was called home into the arms of Jesus.
Born 1932 in North Bay, On to James and Alberta Fletcher. Her siblings were Harold, Emerson, Len Ivan, and Jean all predeceased. She is survived by her nieces and nephews. Dorothy had many close friends in Sudbury and North Bay. She had a distinguished thirty five year career in the federal civil service, with her last position with Revenue Canada.
Dorothy was a very strong woman with a great sense of humour. She was a member of the I.O.D.E. and volunteered at the Daffodil Centre for many years, bringing fresh baked cookies every week. She was a devout member of St. Andrew’s United Church and volunteered on many committees. Her resilience throughout life was amazing. Her beloved dogs Mitsy and Roxy were a light in her life.
For the past eight years at Pioneer Manor she was cared for by special care givers Madeleine Lemire and Jeannine Johnson and other considerate P.M. staff in Pine and York Home Areas. A special thank you to Dr. Moe St. Martin for his care spanning many years.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Terrace Lawn Cemetery, North Bay with Rev. Catherine Somerville officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations to the St. Andrew’s United Church (Music and Worship Committee) would be appreciated.
