Dorothy, age 78, passed peacefully on January 15th, 2020 with her son by her side.
Wife of William (her Billy) for 59 years. Loving Mum to Tracey (Tim), Joanne (Andrew), Meredith and Matthew. Proud Nanny to eight grandchildren Wesley (Johanna), Adam, Cameron (Olivia), Michael, Brooke, Liam, Isabel and Ruby.
Born in Hertfordshire, England to the late George and Catherine Harding; older sister to Janet Hughes and the late Linda Stead (Mick). Adored by her nieces and nephews Stephen Hughes, Caroline Stead (Gary) Kevin Hyland (Beverley) and Samantha Leavens (Darren) as well as great nieces and nephews James Hyland, Megan and Michael Leavens, Ella and Blake Mitchell, Erin and Ben Hughes. Also missed by Tom Starnes and Glenn Taylor (Sandra).
Dorothy, formerly of England, Greenfield Park (Quebec), and most recently Newmarket (Ontario), always welcomed friends and “adopted” family into her home. While we moved frequently, Dorothy always joined the local Anglican Church and sang in many choirs including the St. Lambert Choral Society and Montreal Symphony Choir. Trained at the famous Cordon Bleu cooking school in London, England, Dorothy had a passion for all things culinary. She ran a Movable Feast and taught her legendary “Tuesday Night Cooking Lessons” from her home to many friends and family. She generously donated “Dinner for Four” to help fundraise for various organizations close to her heart.
Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate Dorothy’s life and find comfort that she is in heaven watching over us.
Miss me but let me go
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me.
I want no tears in a gloom filled room
why cry for a soul set free!
