Doris’ Obituary
Doris Vanjoff of Buchanan, SK, passed away at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre on Sunday, April 5, 2020, at the age of 89 years.
Doris was born on June 22, 1930, to Wasyl and Helen (Chutskoff) Vanjoff on her paternal grandparent’s farm in the Good Lake District, SK. She received her grade eight education from Devil’s Lake School and then went on to complete grades nine and ten through correspondence.
Doris stayed and helped on her parent’s farm for several years and eventually moved to Toronto, ON, where she worked at Woolworth’s. She then relocated to Regina and worked at Sears Canada and Modern Building Cleaning until her retirement. After her retirement, Doris moved back to Buchanan to live with her sister, Laura.
Doris enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, and knitting and completed many beautiful afghans. Additionally, she became very good at leather tooling. She enjoyed looking after her cats, feeding birds, growing flowers, watching curling on tv, and displaying her crafts at trade shows. She also enjoyed travelling, especially to Nashville, Las Vegas, and Disneyland.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Doris was predeceased by her parents, Wasyl and Helen; brother, Walter; and brother-in-law, Dave Tunbridge.
She is lovingly remembered by sisters, Laura of the Preeceville and District Long Term Care and Helene Tunbridge of Sturgis, SK; and nieces, Hilary (Deren) of White City, SK and Heather (Wes) and their children, Chaz, Mollie, Layla, and Cruz of Sturgis, SK.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held and announced at a later date. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to Paws and Claws Animal Rescue, as tokens of remembrance, in memory of Doris Vanjoff.
