Obituary
Nason, Doreen Elizabeth (McCracken), wife of Harlan F. Nason of Wirral, NB passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on December 20, 2020. Doreen was born on March 16, 1936 to the late Hilda Doss (Kirkpatrick) and William L. McCracken.
Besides her husband, Doreen is survived by her special niece Marilyn Falconer, several cousins, nieces and nephews and four sister- in-laws.
Following high school and graduation from the Fredericton Business College, Doreen worked for the provincial Dept. of Labour for 33 years retiring in 2001. Doreen was an adherent of the Patterson United Church which was practically next door. She was keenly interested in the Hoyt Volunteer Fire Dept and held office in the Women’s Auxiliary for several years. Fundraising projects in the early days of the Fire Dept. were always a welcome challenge. She shared with others an interest in the origin of the Patterson Settlement Historical Society and was a founding member, which was for the purpose of saving 4 Historic Buildings. As a result the number of saved buildings grew to 9 on site. Having been born in “Duncan House”, which was moved to the little historic settlement, provided an extra incentive to be involved.
Along with her parents, Doreen was predeceased by her special aunt and uncle, Susie and Duncan Kirkpatrick, who were always there for her when her parents could not be, also her Aunt Ruby (Kirkpatrick) Smith. She was also predeceased by uncles Glendon and Alton McCracken and aunt Edna (McCracken) Kirkpatrick.
Visitation will be at Sunbury Funeral Home on Tuesday December 22, 2020 from 2-5pm. Because of COVID 19, the Funeral Service will be private. Interment will take place in the spring.
