Obituary
Diane Paulette Smith (nee:Chayer), of Gatineau, Quebec, passed away on September 4, 2020, with her family by her side.
Diane was born on September 11th, 1956 to Colette and Henry Chayer, in Timiskaming Qc . Diane, and husband, Jason Smith, were fortunate to find each other in their youth giving them a long loving 45 year marriage. Diane and Jason had 3 wonderful children, Angie, Shivonne (Dom) and finally a boy! Kevin (Rebecca). She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Caleb, Noah(father Phil Le May), Chloe and Jack, and her wonderful beautiful granddaughter Lux.
Diane excelled at loving and caring all she met, Diane was a rock for many friends and family. She was always there with a kind word and genuine concern for everyone she met. Her kindness helped many through difficult times, her passion gave them hope. Her mission was to improve the lives of others.
Diane was passionate about crafting, she adored ceramics, knitting, crocheting and painting and was often found making wonderful treasures for the special people in her life. While Diane had many passions in life, traveling was one she enjoyed greatly. Her second home was Dominic Republic where she made many lifelong friends.
Diane was predeceased by her parents Colette and Henry Chayer. She is survived by her sisters Louise (deceased Rene), Tammy (Marcel). Brothers Fern, Danny, Mikey (Melissa).
Diane’s last unselfish wish is she asks people not weep or mourn her passing, she is no longer in pain, she is free with those she loved. She wishes for everyone to celebrate a life well lived, for everyone to take a moment to enjoy the free things in life, especially each other, to support and love one other.
The family requests that all flowers and notes are sent to Hillside Funeral Services. There will be a visitation on Tuesday September 8th between 4:00pm to 6:00pm service to follow.
In accordance with current directives from the Bereavement Authority of Ontario in regard to COVID 19 the total number of attendees is limited and additional precautions are in place. Face masks are mandatory at the funeral home. For more information please contact the funeral home.
